What will you learn in this class? • Develop your English speaking skills through informal exercises and oral presentations. • Improve your pronunciation and intonation. • Learn and use the present tense, past tense, past progressive, present perfect, past perfect, future. • Learn to distinguish the active voice of a verb from a passive voice. • Use articles, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs correctly. • Practice writing a correct and coherent paragraph in English.

  4. Coming to class is important. Every class day you receive 20 pointsfor the day’s work if you complete all the day’s work. Half of the points will be deducted if you leave the room before the class is over Classwork includes : Oral Activities Written Work Based on Readings Grammar Activities Active Participation Quizzes Listening Comprehension Exercises The last half hour of class is spent in my correcting your classwork. 2 Class attendance

  5. 100 pts each 10 minutes long Accompanied by a power point or Prezi presentation 3Oral presentations

  6. Your professor will provide a list of a 100 verbs which you must learn during the semester. Each quiz will be 25 points for a 100 point grade. 4 VERB QUIZZES

  7. Before each 100 point report, you will have a coaching appointment. These appointments will be in the classroom. They are counted as 20 points for your class attendance and participation. COACHING APPOINTMENTS 5

  8. What do we do in the coaching appointment? • You bring the text of what you are going to say. This text needs to be written in your own words; it should not be taken directly from sources like Wikipedia. • You will come prepared to read your text so that I can correct your pronunciation. • Or you will bring your power point presentation so that I can read it and correct it. Your ppt cannot have complete sentences or paragraphs…just a few words to help you remember what you are going to say.

  9. 25 points per lab/20 for the day’s work/5 for attendance Counts as a test grade 6LAB Grade

  10. How will I be graded? • Classwork 100 % (+400 pts) • Daily attendance • Quizzes • Listening Comprehension Exercises • Oral Reports 300% • 4 Verb Quizzes 100% 4. Lab Grade 100% 500 %

  11. What do you need for the class? • Responsibility • Disposition • Access to a computer • Knowledge of power point or other presentation programs • You do not need a book for this class.
