  1. Today in English 112: Romeo and Juliet JEOPARDY REVIEW! Final essay formatting Issues with Citations Other Essay HelpDUE: Essay, 3-5 pages double-spaced, Monday Dec. 17

  2. ESSAY FORMATTING • FONT: Size 12, Times New Roman • DOUBLE-SPACED, 3-5 pages • INDENTED PARAGRAPHS:

  3. PAGE NUMBERS go in the UPPER LEFT-HAND CORNER, and FOLLOW YOUR LAST NAME • Your FULL NAME, the CLASS (English 112), the TEACHER (Mr. Kortschak), the DATE, and your TITLE are listed, in that order, at the START of your essay:

  4. WORKS CITED PAGE • This is where you put your BIBLIOGRAPHICAL CITATION • Write “Works Cited” at the top of your last page, centred, and in size-12 Times New Roman. Then put your citation. • DON’T FORGET! You MUST USE hanging indentation:

  5. CITATION ISSUES • PUNCTUATION: In an in-text citation, the period ALWAYS GOES after the citation – NEVER before. This goes for exclamation and question marks as well: When it comes to police lieutenant James Gordon, however, Batman states that “all the right people seem to hate him” (Miller 36)

  6. The example I used for quoting across multiple word bubbles was:The theatrical aspect to his Batman persona has been perfected by this point, as evidenced by his informing of the city officials that “from this moment on--/--none of [them] are safe” (Miller 38). The -- marks are only there because they were in the original text: The important part of this citation is the /, which goes between the last word of one bubble and the first of the next. If there is no --, there’s no need to put --

  7. You only need to cite the panel number(s) if you are SPECIFICALLY talking about the artwork on a page with more than one panel • If you are summarizing events or quoting dialogue, then panel citations are not necessary
