Learning context and environment • The staff of a non-profit funding organization is interested in learning about • the countries and geographic regions that received or are currently receiving funding • what topics (arts, education, etc.) are funded • identifying opportunities for collaboration thereby increasing impact in a region

  3. Learning model • To use data visualization and data mapping to present textual data in a way that is easier to understand • To support collaborative learning

  4. Learning goals • Enable authentic learning by employing a data visualization tool that supports the staff’s daily work • Provide a space for funders to share knowledge, ask questions and to collaborate • Support project-based learning by giving staff the ability to learn with and from each other

  5. Learning technologies • Interactive maps (e.g. Google maps) • Map mashup technology • MS Excel spreadsheet • Collaborative communications tool
