  1. Bethlehem Catholic High School Dress Code Policy

  2. Introduction The purpose of the Bethlehem Catholic High School dress code is to take away the distractions that can be caused by allowing students to choose their own outfits for school. It is not intended or developed to remove the individuality of your son or daughter but to remove the competition about who has the most expensive, stylish, trendy or elaborate wardrobe. The Bethlehem Catholic High School uniform dress code promotes unity, community and a God-focused learning environment.

  3. Golf shirt • Short or long sleeve uniform blouse • White or brown uniform sweater • Uniform skirt • Uniform slacks • A plain black or dark brown dress belt • Only plain white or dark brown knee socks or tights. • Only plain white undershirts/camisoles may be worn. Girls’ Uniform

  4. Girl’s Seasonal Attire 1st & 4th Quarter • The golf shirt is required during the 1st & 4th quarters. • Only the top button may be open. • Shirt sleeves may not be rolled up or turned under.

  5. 2nd & 3rd Quarter Girl’s Seasonal Attire • The uniform blouse and sweater are required during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. • Only the top button may be open.

  6. Skirt Length • The uniform skirt must reach the knee, in the front and back. • Skirts may not be rolled at the waist. Acceptable Unacceptable (too short)

  7. Girls Uniform Slacks • Only Flynn & O’Hara khaki slacks may be worn. • Slacks must be worn at the waist. • A black or dark brown belt must be worn.

  8. Girls’ Shoes Plain solid color dark brown or black shoes. For safety reasons: High heels, wedges, clogs, platforms and backless shoes are not permitted. Suggested styles: Shoes that tie (i.e. Oxford), Penny Loafers, a buckle shoe (i.e. Mary Jane or T-strap), or a boat shoe (i.e. Sperry topsider)

  9. Girls’ Knee Socks Acceptable Unacceptable (may not have a design)

  10. Girls’ Handbags Any handbag that is too large to fit in the rack under the student desk must be kept in the student’s locker during school hours.

  12. Boys’ Uniform Golf shirt Short or long sleeve uniform dress shirt A necktie White or brown uniform Only plain white undershirts are permitted. Uniform Flynn and O’Hara khaki slacks which must be worn at the waist. Plain black or dark brown dress belt. Plain white, brown or black socks. Low cut sport socks are not permitted.

  13. Seasonal Attire 1st & 4th Quarter • The golf shirt is required during the 1st & 4th quarters. • Only the top button may be open. • Shirt sleeves may not be rolled up or turned under.

  14. Seasonal Attire 2nd & 3rd Quarter • The uniform dress shirt, with a tie and the uniform sweater are required during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. • The top button of the dress shirt must be buttoned.

  15. Boys’ Belts Unacceptable (no studs, patterns, designs, etc.) Acceptable (solid black or dark brown)

  16. Boys’ Shoes Plain solid black or dark brown shoes. Suggested styles:Loafers, Boat shoes (i.e. Sperry topsider) Oxfords, or dress shoes.

  17. All Students Gym Uniforms Uniforms must be purchased from the school store. The uniform consists of the BECA logo t-shirt, sweat pants and/or shorts. These items are the same for both boys and girls.

  19. Hair Regulations Extreme styles (i.e. Mohawks/faux hawks, spikes, mullets, cut or shaved lines, letters or patterns etc;) are not permitted. Non-traditional colors are not permitted. Boys’ hair: Length may not be longer than the bottom of the shirt collarHair may not cover the eyebrows. Facial hair: Sideburns may not extend below the earlobes. Mustaches are not permitted. Face must be clean-shaven.

  20. Jewelry Inappropriate, excessive or oversized items are not permitted. Facial piercing jewelry (i.e. lips, eyebrows, noses, chins, temples, jaws, cheeks etc;) is not permitted. Clear studs and Band-aids/coverings are not permitted (including earlobes) Any visible tattoos must be covered.

  21. Earrings Boys: May not wear earrings during school hours. Girls: May not be larger than a quarter nor longer than 1".

  22. Dress Code Non-Conformance All dress code violations carry a 1 point infraction per day until corrected. An allotted time for correction without penalty of daily points may be granted by the disciplinarian only if it is determined that circumstances warrant an extension. Only a note written by a doctor or the school’s sports trainer, with a specified time limit indicated, will exempt a student from a dress code violation.

  23. Summary Bethlehem Catholic High School is a school built upon strong Christian, Catholic values, traditions and beliefs. Therefore, any type of clothing, makeup, hairstyle, tattoo, jewelry or any other accessory deemed to be inconsistent with these values, traditions and beliefs are not acceptable and will not be permitted at any time during school hours.
