  5. What is DeviceNet ? DeviceNet is a network system used in the automation industry to interconnect control devices for data exchange. It uses Controller Area Network as the backbone technology and defines an application layer to cover a range of device profiles. Typical applications include information exchange, safety devices, and large I/O control networks.

What is DeviceNet? • Primarily targeted at Motor Control Centers providing centralized control of these device profiles: • Variable frequency drives • Overload relays and contactors • Motor starters • Network - Linear Bus Topology • Power and Signal on the same network cable • Up to 64 Devices • Network - Speed and Length • 125Kbps @ 500 Meters • 250Kbps @ 250 Meters • 500Kbps @ 100 Meters
