Vegetables • Taste good • Easy to cook • Can keep you & your kids from getting sick • Reduces birth defects when pregnant
Broccoli with cheese sauce Delicious vegetables • Collards with smoked turkey • Boiled cabbage • Candied sweet potatoes • Corn on the cob
Getting your kids to eat vegetables • For finger foods – Cook baby carrots until soft • Add onions & peppers to scrambled eggs • Add frozen vegetables to soups
What’s best – fresh or frozen or canned vegetables? • Fresh vegetables are best if they are in season (summer & fall) • Frozen vegetables have good nutrition & easy to cook • Canned vegetables are fine, but they are high in sodium (drain and rinse)
