    2. Coding ER consults in AHLTA Providers get consults from the emergency room AHLTA allows you to generate or capture the clinical documentation AHLTA will also allow you to capture the work load for your consult

    3. Create a walk in encounter in AHLTA

    4. You can chose to document your consult in AHLTA. If you chose to do this be sure to leave a hard copy of your note on the ER chart

    5. If you don’t document the actual encounter in AHLTA you can still use AHLTA to capture the workload For example, if you dictate your consult and leave a hand written note on the chart in the ED you can code the note in AHLTA and append a scan of the dictation to your AHLTA note

    6. Coding ED consults using AHLTA In the A/P module select the appropriate diagnosis.

    7. By selecting outpatient under settings it allows you to select the outpatient e/m code (shown here) or the confirmatory consult codes
