CE Product Central Master Data Needs • Defining rich data attributes, esp. for multichannel retailers and different purposes for the use of product data (such as listing, logistics, marketing, sales, on-shelf information, …) • Tracking & Tracing at item/component level providing accurate and up-to-date product information • Increasing the availability of relevant product information at low cost to retailers and consumers • All supply chain partners identifying and describing products in the same way to reduce costs, data errors and inconsistencies • Efficient way of collecting master data , e.g. • in order to keep information automatically up-to-date (no complicated manual work) • for marketing purposes and consumer information, e.g. for product comparisons on retailer websites • Increasing the quality of master data – ideally provided by suppliers/manufacturers themselves referencing unique (GS1) identification keys and globally valid standards

  7. Goal of the CE PCMD BNG Develop a standard with product specific attributes and a classification system for the Consumer Electronics industry to use the GDSN. GDSN and Data Accuracy:Output from this work group will be the global use of the GDSN for Consumer Electronic products. The initiative aims to demonstrate that the GDSN is uniquely positioned to meet current andemerging requirements for electronic product catalogue data.

IE CE IUG / CE PCMD BNGCurrent Activities and Topics (1/2) • Need of 3 co-chairs for the CE PCMD BNG • Manufacturer:Paula Valério, Flextronics Instituto de Tecnologia, Brazil, www.flextronics.com Electrical engineer, since 2 years working for Flextronics, an electronics contract manufacturer based near Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Co-chairing the “Tag, Label, Reader and Printer Performance (TLRPP)” working group • Retailer:Thomas Trockel, Media-Saturn, Germany, www.media-saturn.de Working for Media-Saturn for 20 years, responsible for master data management since the beginning of this year Media-Saturn is the 2nd biggest CE retailer in the world and the biggest in Germany, with 840 stores in Europe, 60,000 employees and 19 billion € annual revenue. • GS1 MO-representative: Carlos Ramos Aguilar, GS1 Mexico, www.gs1mexico.org Working in the standards development area in the department for GDSN solutions.  GS1 Mexico is intensely acting in the field of GDS since 2008 and Carlos is responsible for coordinating this project.

IE CE IUG / CE PCMD BNGCurrent Activities and Topics (2/2) • Development of the Statement of Business Need (SBN) document, timeline: • First draft:Stefanie Kresse until 09th August 2010 • Review of first draft and annotation: • Peter Alvarez until 16th August 2010, and then • Co-chairs until 23rd August 2010 • Distribution of the draft SBN to the CE IUG and reworking during the conference calls on 31st August and 14th September 2010 • Distribution of the draft to the GDSN User Group • Finalization of the SBN during the GS1 Industry and Standards Event end of September 2010 in Amsterdam • Entrance into the GSMP process
