  2. The Psychology of Cultures • The primary focus of this talk is to offer an opportunity to reflect on what do we mean by cultural competence and the challenges of working with people from different countries and diverse backgrounds.

  4. DMIS The Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity is a stage model of cognitive development based on personal construct theory by Kelly (1963) and its extension, radical constructivism by Watzlawick (1984).

  5. DMIS Individuals can generally progress from ‘Ethnocentrism’ To ‘Ethnorelativism’.

  6. DMIS Ethnocentrism is the stage where we experience events in our own culture as central to reality.

  7. DMIS Ethnorelativism is the stage where we can experience events in the context of our own and other cultures.
