Respect and Power Ephesians 6:1-4 1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother" which is the first commandment with a promise 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." 4Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

  2. Ephesians 5:21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. • 1st Husband Wife • 2nd Parents Children • 3rd Slaves Master

Honour your father and mother is a serious matter God.Read Exodus 21:15-17 & Lev 20:9 • The Mosaic Law prescribed death for the child struck or cursed a parent. • And Paul list such disobedience as one of many grave sins • Romans 1:30 & 2 Tim 3:2 • Paul urges the positive duty of children to obey their parents. • Obedience is due to both parents because it is the RIGHT thing to do as we conform to God’s Holy Commandment • Ephesians 6:2-3

  5. Parents’ Role and ResponsibilityEphesians 6:4 • If the children walked in obedience to Christ. They are particularly vulnerable to a domineering and thoughtless father actions, would be a discouraging to them. • Colossians 3:2 • Father do not provoke your children, lest they become discourage. • Parents should bring up their children according to way of the Lord. • Parents need to disciple their own children.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and His mighty power because we are in the battle against the evil one, Satan. • The powerful evil forces of fallen angels led by Satan who is a vicious fighter • 1 Peter 5:8 He prowls like a lion seeking for someone to devour • Ephesians 6:12 We are into this spiritual warfare

Therefore put on the full armour of God • The Greek word, for whole armour (Panoplia) • Refers to the complete equipment of a fully armed soldier • This is a serious matter that demand full attention. • This is not a fantasies, It is very real. Satan is all out to get us to turn away from God. Although we have victory, • We must engage in the battle until the return of Christ. • We need to overcome Satan, God has provided for us by giving us the power of the Holy Spirit and His armour surrounding us.

  10. Prayer Ephesians 6:18-20 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions… Be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints

Cell Discussion • God has given us His armour, but it is our responsibility to out it on and to use it confidently against the power of evil • What do you need to do in order to put it on? • Go through every piece of the armour and discuss among your members how you can effectively put it on • Such as discipline, training, good habits, etc…)
