What is Bullying? • When someone hurts or scares another person on purpose. • Hurting someone’s body - hitting, kicking, pushing or other physical behavior. • Hurting someone’s feelings – name-calling, leaving out or ignoring in a mean way. • Scaring or threatening someone. • Stealing or damaging other’s belongings. • Sending mean notes, emails, instant messages or text messages, making mean phone calls. • Posting a mean or inappropriate picture of someone else.
What Should You Do? • Tell an adult right away. • Walk or run away; get away from the bully. • If it feels safe, stand up to the bully and then tell an adult. • If you are being bullied online, do not reply and tell an adult right away. • Stay in a group and hang around friends who treat you with respect.
What Is Respect? • Showing care for yourself, other people, animals and things. • How do we show respect? • Take a minute to talk to your neighbors about what you will do to show respect at the Bullock School.
Let’s Practice! • The Helping, Sharing and Caring Ball. • When you catch the ball, follow the instruction under your right thumb. • Gently toss the ball to another classmate. • Let’s play fair and make sure everyone gets a turn.
