  2. Cleanliness • Recycle when appropriate • Put desks/chairs/supplies where you found them • No colored liquids on carpet

  3. Food/Drink • Quiet snacks only • Eat during work time • Lids and caps preferred

  4. Technology • May want to/need to bring personal laptop or tablet to class • Phone, Ipods, etc. allowed during… • Work time in class • While in library during work time • If a problem, will be held for a necessary amount of time

  5. Sign Out/In • One person leaves the room at a time • Write name on Sign Out board along with destination and time. Erase your name once you re-enter the classroom.

  6. Make Up Work • I will write your name on the clipboard for the day(s) you were gone. • Also, I will put your assignment in the accordion file. • It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check the file. • Ask me questions about make up work before or after class. • Make Up Work Calendar.docx

  7. Late Work • If you do not have an assignment done on the day it is due, you will need to fill out a Late Work Form. • Hand this form in in place of your assignment. • Further point reduction or O if you fail to fill out the form. • Late Work Form.docx

  8. Tardies • If the bell rings and you are not in the room and in your seat, I will mark you tardy. • If you come late and have a pass, please quietly hand it to me.

  9. Absences • If you have an excused absence, you will get an additional day to complete the assignment if and only if the assignment was assigned the day you were absent. • Possible complications…

  10. Notes • Honors – Notes will be important because we do not have a textbook for the students. • Occasionally notes will be allowed while taking a quiz/text or may be graded. • 9th and 12th Grade English – Notes will be available to you online, however, they will never be allowed on a quiz or test and some assignments.

  11. Student Supplies • The scissors, glue, markers, colored pencils, crayons, pencils and highlighters are provided for you for school use only. • Once/if supplies are gone, students will be asked to bring their own materials to complete assignments that may require additional supplies. • If a student is in need of basic supplies, please see me before or after school.

  12. Library • We will be using the computer labs in the library and the library itself this year. • Wait for me to lead the way to the library. • Wait for me to assign you a seat in the library. • You may listen to music only if you bring your own headphones. • No food or drinks can be brought to the library. • Library time is a privilege.

  13. Consequences • Consequences will mostly be dealt with on an individual basis. • All Student Handbook rules will be followed.

  15. Extra Credit • Extra credit will be given on rare occasions • There may be extra credit given on a test or quiz • You will have the chance to attend local cultural events and complete a journal

  16. Plagiarism • If I find that you’ve blatantly plagiarized a formal writing assignment, you will receive a O with no chance to re-do the assignment. • If you find my decision unfair, please bring your case to me and support your reasoning. • This includes copying other students’ work.

  17. Grading • Most major assignments will have a rubric. • Participation points will be given each day. • I will follow my grading scale that is posted on my website • If you receive a grade that you feel is unfair, please speak to me before or after school. • Burton Ally- HS English Dept. / Grading Scale
