  11. 1800 France votes (plebiscite) on a new constitution giving Napoleon real power as First Consul

  13. December 2 1804 Napoleon crowns himself Emperor of France.

  15. 1805 France is at war with Britain, Russia, Austria, and Sweden and win the Battle of Austerlitz (p. 666), loses the Battle of Trafalgar.

  34. June 18, 1815 The Battle of Waterloo begins and Napoleon loses to British and Prussian forces.

  36. 1821 Napoleon dies in exile on St. Helena in the south Atlantic.
