Team 2: Advancement / Raising Money • Mark Hoeting • Arkansas State University • Dan Terrio • Lewis and Clark College • Doug Ruschman • Xavier University • Thomas Podles • Loyola College in Maryland
Scenario • Fund raising is President Beverage’s top priority for the University • The Advancement staff was doubled to prepare for the fund raising including 8 developers and an IT Mgr for Advancement • Advancement thinks the mainframe is inadequate to support the campaign • IT disagrees and relations have deteriorated between the groups
Assumptions • A current ERP system is operational • The Advancement Department does not understand what all options included in the current ERP • The project is approved but changes can (and should) be made • Ineffective senior leadership from IT
The Assessment • We feel the project is laden with internal security and business continuity risks • A build mentality on compressed timeline • Total costs and long-term implications have not been considered. • Could produce detrimental relationships with donors
The Plan • Apologize for IT’s role in the deterioration of the relationship between the two organizations • Demonstrate concerns about the current plan • Perform a needs and costs analysis in short order • This project is the organizations number one project so IT needs to proceed as such
