  7. WORKSHOP IDEAS + FEEDBACK FEEDBACK GENERATED DURING THE WORKSHOP PEOPLE Volunteers: Strategies to attract, reward, retain, educate/develop & manage expectations Youth strategy / future leaders Promoting the benefits volunteering – shared knowledge, friendships, community Acknowledging the changing nature of the volunteers – not every person will be able to give the same Leadership programs – building confidence and resilience Accreditation: Ease of access to accreditation – time and cost restraints Better communication between all stakeholders. Teachers: Role of the teacher Make their life easier – develop interesting material, relevant to the sport, provide training and development The importance of communication channels: Essential that it is easy to use and navigate (some suggesting that current system is not) Multi lingual Embrace social media Relevant information needs to be easily accessible Report Heading
  8. WORKSHOP IDEAS + FEEDBACK FEEDBACK GENERATED DURING THE WORKSHOP PLACES Government: Netball needs to find a seat at the planning table of local government, to ensure the sport is on the radar for future planning and investment. Thought is that local government strategy is currently male skewed – i.e. more investment in male sports. Trend towards indoor facilities. Schools: Importance of building relationships with schools – early engagement is a priority Inclusive Environments: Finding the leaders within the CALD communitiesEstablishing relationship within community to build CALD capacity Creating opportunities for CALD leadership positions within the association – gives profile and builds confidence Report Heading
  9. WORKSHOP IDEAS + FEEDBACK FEEDBACK GENERATED DURING THE WORKSHOP PRODUCTS Creating a suite of new products that works within communities, challenge traditional ideas: Mixed – male/female and age groups (combined age groups) Fast5 Mid-week, night competitions Social Gala Days / Come ‘n’ Try Break down formality, look at greater flexibility (e.g. uniforms) Timing of competition in 2015 – associated challenges Report Heading
  10. EVENT TIMING + OUR PEOPLE IDEAS TO CONSIDER Timing of the Event + our Netball Competitions Friday 7 – Sunday 16 crosses over two weekends of traditional winter netball, and possibly finals rounds How can we work together to enable to best opportunities for all players and spectators to enjoy Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015? Some of our netballers will wish to attend the event and some will wish to enjoy with friends via the broadcast. Some fun IDEAS to ‘pass’ around… Could we create mini live sites at Netball Associations or Netball Club houses to bring our communities together? Have a BBQ, hire a big screen TV (to watch the games) and host at your Association Do you have a local hotel or Club that would love to embrace the excitement of Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 with you and jointly host a function together? Opening Ceremony Party on Friday 7 August 2015 Finals Matches on Sunday 16 August 2015 Report Heading
  11. AFTER THE EVENT + EMBRACING NEW PEOPLE AFTER THE EVENT – LETS PLAY SOME NETBALL! After the Finals Matches have been played and the phones start ringing on Monday morning, how can we work together to ensure that we have great opportunities for ALL people of to play netball? Imagine that is Monday 17 August 2015… How do we want to take registrations for competition? How do we want to process enquiries? We will run a Spring Competition from September to December…starting only 2/3 weeks later? Will we run a Come and Try Day for the younger kids? Will we run a NetSetGO 6 week program in September or October? The challenge for us all, is how to drive registrations for Winter 2016, but get people excited and playing netball in the short term. Lets work together now to plan what is possible and what will work best for our own local netball communities Your Ideas from the Workshop are fantastic! Here are a few; Run a short 3 week Net Set GO Come and Try Run a Spring competition – social grades An 8 week mixed netball competition, with relaxed uniform policy as a social activity Run a ‘return to netball’ competition for social players, that have not played in ‘a few seasons’ against like minded players Report Heading
