  2. Mercury • No moons. • One day on Mercury is 59 Earth days. • Mercury is the first planet.

  3. Venus • Venus is surrounded by thick clouds that reflect the light from the Sun. • One day on Venus is 243 Earth days long. • A year on Venus is 225 Earth days long.

  4. Earth • Earth is the third planet from the Sun. • Earth has one moon. • From space Earth looks like a ball covered with white clouds.

  5. Mars • One year on Mars is 687 Earth days long. • Mars was named for the Roman god of war. • It is usually is very cold on Mars.

  6. Jupiter • Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System. • One day on Jupiter is 10 Earth hours long. • A year on Jupiter is 12 Earth years long.

  7. Saturn • One year on Saturn is about 30 Earth years long. • From space Saturn looks like a shining golden globe. • Saturn has some water vapor is also present.

  8. Uranus • Uranus has 5 large moons and 10 small moons. • A year on Uranus is 89 Earth years long. • Uranus lies on its side with the north pole facing the Sun.

  9. Neptune • One year on Neptune is 165 Earth years long. • Neptune has four or more rings witch are very narrow and hard to see. • Winds on the surface of Neptune reach 600 miles per hour.

  10. Pluto • Pluto’s moon is named Charon. • It is extremely cold on Pluto. • One year on Pluto is 247 Earth years long.
