Self interaction of spins in binary systems Mátyás Vasúth HAS KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics Budapest, Hungary Albert Einstein Century Conference 18 – 22 July, 2005 Paris, France
Introduction • Radiative evolution of compact binaries- circular orbits - secular losses • Change of the orbital angular frequency- PN, SO, SS, QM, DD, 2PN, SS-self and tail contributions • Accumulated number of GW cycles
Frequency evolution • Circular orbits • Change of the orbital frequency
Frequency evolution • Spin parameters
Accumulated number of GW cycles • Dimensionless time variable
Numerical examples • Number of accumulated GW cycles • Spin parameters for J0737-3039
Summary • various contributions add to the rate of increase of the GW frequency and the accumulated number of GW cycles • contributions from the self interaction of the individual spins are commensurable with the proper spin-spin contributions and represent the first corrections to the radiation reaction in the Lense-Thirring picture
