  2. Warm Up Find the circumference of a circle with a radius of 6. 2. Find the area of a circle with a diameter of 7.

  3. Definition of a Sphere • Sphere – the set of all points in space that are the same distance, r, from a given point known as the center of the sphere.

  4. 7.6.1 Volume of a Sphere • The volume, V, with radius, r, is given by: V=4/3πr 3

  5. Example 1 • The envelope of a hot-air balloon has a radius of 27 feet when fully inflated. Approximately how many cubic feet of hot air can the hot-air balloon hold?

  6. 7.6.2 Surface Area of a Sphere • The surface area, S, of a sphere, with radius, r, is given by: S=4πr 2

  7. Activity • The radius of a Munchkin Donut is 2.3 inches. Find the surface area and volume of the munchkin. • If a box has a volume of 15 in how many Munchkins can fit in the box? 3
