  4. DEPARTURE • Wednesday 24th May • Assemble outside School main entrance at 14.00 • Loading coach 14.15 • Departure 14.30 latest • Immediate family only please!

  5. LUGGAGE • One medium size case each • Bring backpack or easily carried bag to use during the outings and on the coach • Make sure you have a SAFE way of carrying your purse and mobile.

  6. TRAVEL • A coach is provided for our use throughout the stay • Channel crossing via P & O ferries over Dover. • Depart Dover at 16.35 • Arrive at Calais 18.50 • Arrival at hotel 10.00 am approx. (all times are local)

  7. RETURN – Saturday 3rd June • Leaving the hotel at 19.30 • Arrival outside Windmill Hill at 16.00 • Please collect your daughter promptly – we ALL need to get home for a good rest. • Girls are expected to ATTEND SCHOOL on Monday 5th June.

  8. HOTEL • We are staying in: HOTEL ACOTEL AVIGNON HOTEL SPLENDID SOLE LAKE GARDA.

  9. Rooms are for 4 or 5 pupils and all have ensuite bathrooms

Year 8 Educational visit to France/ Italy provisional itinerary 2006 – Avignon / Lake Garda Wednesday 24th: Departure by coach at 14.30 from the school (Windmill Hall) Thursday 25th: am - Arrival at Avignon/ pm in resort – swimming and shopping Friday 26th: Day in Avignon. Visit the Pope’s palace and the bridge Saturday 27th: Leave Avignon after breakfast. Stop at Eze for lunch and visit the Fragonard Perfumery. Arrive in Lake Garda for dinner Sunday 28th: am – Mass/ pm – Verona (Juliet’s balcony and Arena) Monday 29th: Day trip to Venice. Visit the glass factory Tuesday 30th: am - Desezano market, pm – Padua Wednesday 31st: Day in Gardaland Thursday 1st: am – Salò, pm boat trip around the lake Friday 2nd: In resort. am – market, pm – by the pool (swimming) DEPARTURE FROM LAKE GARDA AT 19.30 AFTER DINNER Saturday 3rd: Arrival at school / Upminster at 16.00 hours (Windmill Hall)

  18. SAFETY & SECURITY • On the coach – seat bells on at all times. Be considerate of the drivers, don’t make unnecessary noise and keep the coach clean. • At hotel – keep rooms TIDY. Be considerate of other guests. • Personal – follow the same personal safety rules as you would in England. DO NOT GIVE TELEPHONE NUMBERS or the name of our hotel to anyone you meet. • Possessions – bring your mobile phone, check it works abroad, don’t forget your charger and an adapter plug. Remember the COST! Don’t bring expensive jewellery or other valuable items – YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!

  19. MONEY • What’s included – FULL BOARD • How much to bring? Up to you – allow enough for extra drinks and ice-creams. • Need to bring packed lunch or money to buy on ferry. Allow money to buy food for return journey. • Get your Euros in advance - no commission at Post Office. Ferry won’t give a great rate and will use up your time. • LOOK AFTER IT!! Ideally have it in waistband – not in obvious purse in those little handbags you have • €20 for hotel damage

  20. INSURANCE • School insurance, as for all trips • In addition Travelbound insurance • European Health Card for EU medical insurance

BEHAVIOUR • High standards are expected as usual • At hotel and during all visits/outings • Strictly no smoking, alcohol, drugs • Usual school sanctions will apply • Meanwhile any miscreant will stay with a member of staff • Parents and Mrs Williams will be informed immediately • But it won’t happen, will it?

Reply slips must be returned signed by parents to Mrs Esposito • Home and emergency telephone numbers and medical information (allergies/ current medication, etc) – Please state if vegetarian • Immediate family only at school drop-off/ pick up • Give your passport, health card and €20 to Mrs Esposito at am registration • Keep drivers happy and treat coach with respect ( no chewing gum, mess, screaming) • Money (Euros) – to be kept in waistband, not purse or handbag, no recommendation on amount to take. Be vigilant and check your change • Bring mobile phone – check that it works abroad/ tariffs • Bring costume jewellery – not gold/ valuable items • Bring medium size suitcases – it is imperative! • Items to bring: mixture of clothes for all weathers – not just shorts! cardigan/ jumper for evening sensible shoes/ trainers going out clothes something suitable for church (Sunday) towel for use by pool sun cream/ sunglasses travel cushion camera walkman basic first aid kit, including plasters/ travel sickness tablets food (for outgoing journey only) DVDs, Videos, CDs, tapes (no higher than 12 rating) • You are responsible for your own valuables • Timekeeping – listen to instructions, be punctual at all times and keep to bed times…OR ELSE! • Accommodation – 3* hotel in Italy. We are only school allowed here, so respect this! Be considerate of other guests (no shouting, screaming, running etc.) Keep rooms tidy (store suitcases away, do not leave towels on the floor, no food, etc.) Do not use towels to remove make-up. • Do not give telephone numbers or name of hotel(s) to anyone you meet • We are ‘in loco parentis’ so no alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and inappropriate behaviour with boys – school rules apply. Mrs Williams and parents will be informed immediately. • Finally, make the most of this wonderful opportunity and have fun!

  24. Year 8 Educational Visit to Avignon/ Lake Garda 24th May – 3rd June 2006All pupils MUST attend school on Wednesday morning in non-uniform and hand in their passport, health card and €20 damage deposit to Mrs Esposito during their morning registration. The following groups are only for register purposes. This is who you must report to any time you need to check in during the trip.
