The Target Field Lab is a continuation of the Target project which started in 2009 at the University of Groningen (UG). The mission of Target Field Lab is to enable entrepreneurs to accelerate the development and testing of new data-driven services using the Mining Big Data field lab - an innovation cluster pooling IT expertise and facilities.

Target Proeftuin: Demo project 1Fact or Fake – Open Science • TH BV + OmegaCEN will provide a specific layer that provides scanning, filtering and tracing of data items from various types of social and public media • The tracing will be developed using Target’s backwards chaining and ML for the interpretation of scanned/filtered data • This data will be stored and organised using the generic layer. • An App will be developed to aid to discriminate fact- fake news • The view is that equally well the methods can be applied to trace original data and provide reproducibility of Scientific results (OPEN SCIENCE) • Without access to the ground layer (hardware) of the Proeftuin it is hard to see how an SME could achieve this
