  1. SYSA Outdoor Flag Football Coaches Meeting Thursday, August 23rd SYSA Bingo Hall, 6:00pm

  2. SYSA Mission • “To provide sports activities for all youth where everyone plays, develops skills, is taught good sportsmanship, and learns the value of being a team player.”

  3. SYSA Flag Football • Most games will be played at Andrew Rypien Field (3501 N. Regal) • Some games will be played at Dwight Merkel. • No alcohol OR tobacco use at any field. • Teams organized by age and school.

  4. Practices • Practices may begin August 24th • Practice 1-2 times per week • Several Different Drills, limit standing around • Use local park or school if available • Still waiting on list of available fields that SYSA will provide • Please provide several opportunities for water breaks

  5. Games • Most games will be played at Andrew Rypien Field (3501 N. Regal) • Games start September 8th • 7 Game Season • Odd Number of Teams in 3rd/4th Division. Some teams will play 8 games

  6. Sportsmanship • Coaches are Role Models • ZERO Tolerance Policy • Respect officials, coaches, players, fans

  7. Picture Day • Saturday, September 15th • Andrew RypienField & Dwight Merkel • Encourage Parents to Purchase Pictures

  8. Candy Bowl • Season will conclude with Candy Bowl on October 26-28th. • This is optional. $130 ADDITIONAL team fee. • 2 Game Guarantee • Games are two 15 minute halves, running clock. • Champions get t-shirts • SYSA is looking for a Sponsor. Interested? Email glen@sysa.com

  9. Playing Rules • Every player must play half the game • A player may play a MAXIMUM of 2 quarters per game at quarterback OR running back • Each player shall play equally on offense and defense each game • No extra points after touchdowns • No kickoffs. Ball placed at 30 yard line • No hurdling, no stiff arms, no flag guarding • No overtime

  10. Skilled Positions • Quarterback • Running Back • Wide Receiver is not a Skilled Position if lined up as a wide receiver

  12. Other Information • Schedules will be released August 31st • Schedule Requests? Email glen@sysa.com • No Guarantees • Gear will be turned in at last game • Time: 4 Quarters. 12 Minutes Each. Running Clock. • 80x40yd field with 4 20-yard zones • Games at Merkel will be 80x53.3yds. • SYSA follows the NFHS Football Rulebook unless otherwise noted. • Questions????
