  3. Fact • In the US, most acts of violence are done by people who know their victims. • Why do you think that many people believe strangers commit the most violent acts? • Why do you think there is more violent acts committed by people who know their victims?

Violence and Health • Violence- the threat of or actual use of physical force against oneself or another person • Homicide- intentional killing of one person by another • 16,259 deaths by homicide- one every 32.5 minutes • 38, 364 deaths by suicide- one every 13.5 minutes • 81,280 reported rapes by women- one every 6.5 minutes
