  2. myDMU http:// A web-based student information system called myDMU. myDMU can be accessed at anytime using the internet. It shows: contact details, timetables, course information, announcements, results, private housing, money matters regulations and more. Login to myDMU means that you are also signed onto Blackboard. Link to DMU Google Mail

  3. The location Type the myDMU address here: http://my.dmu.ac.uk

  4. Welcome Links and information about the university Click on Login for myDMU and to see your information.

  5. Login Type your username. This is your p number for example: p12345678. You will be told your password by your faculty. The first time, you will be forced to change your password. You can change your password here.

  6. Logged in Click the link to open Blackboard.

  7. Logged in Click the Google Sign in for mail.

  8. myDMU sections The portal is divided into sections Home, Personal, Course, Living and DMU. Each shows related content.

  10. About Blackboard The University web-based learning system is called Blackboard. Blackboard is always available. Lecturers use it to give you information about your modules, learning materials, further resources discussion areas and support activities. Use the link in myDMU.

  11. Login Blackboard Click on the link in myDMU then click the Continue button.

  12. Your Modules Click on one of the links in the ‘My Modules’ panel to see the available materials for one of your modules. specific module. Your module tutor will let you know what is available.

  13. My Communities Click on one of the links in the ‘My Communities’ panel to see your learning materials.

  16. Student Email Every student has an DMU Google Mail account Used by the university registry, library, your faculty and other support departments when sending emails It is your responsibility to look at it regularly. Login to myDMU: http://my.dmu.ac.uk/ then click on the Google Sign on link

  17. Email address Type the portal address, http://my.dmu.ac.uk/ then follow the email link

  21. Calendar Click on the calendar link

  22. Calendar Display and subscribe to the calendars you want to see. Put you own events on.

  23. ChangingPasswords Use the change password link in myDMU.

  24. ChangingPasswords Your password is the key to your personal information, sharing it means other people can see and use you information. DMU never asks for your password in emails. You can change your password here.

  25. Wireless Network The wireless network can automatically detect your unregistered equipment and open at the wireless registration screen. Use you DMU username and password.

Privacy • Once outside of the university’s system the internet is free and open to everybody. • There is no security unless you login to a secure site. • It is common practise for everything to be stored and adapted. How could it be used in the future. • Sites can be located anywhere and used by anyone.

What to do if you have problems • Trouble logging in click the help link on the login screen. • Technical or login problems see your Faculty IT technician. • For Blackboard if you can’t see any modules then you should check that your module tutor has put them on • or • cannot see the correct modules because you are not enrolled, go to your faculty office for help. • For email and calendar help look at http://help.dmu.ac.uk We expect you to ask for help when you need it

Summary • myDMU: personalised living and university information • Blackboard: online learning and support resources • Student email: university’s student email service, also an event scheduler and group working tool. • Password: change it and keep it private • If using more than one system use the Single Sign On link on the myDMU and Blackboard login screens. • Privacy the web is open access, there are people collecting and storing everything that is published. • We expect you to ask for help, when you need it and in the location where you are working.
