  3. Who is SLICE ... • SC Department of Education • Partners: • SC Public School Districts and Schools • SC Departments and Agencies • SC Postsecondary and Higher Education Institutions

  4. When is SLICE... • SLDS Grant – final year, grant ends June 2013 • Public Portal - December 2013 • Beta Testing – Fall and Spring 2013 • Pilot Rollout - Spring/Summer 2013 • Full Rollout - School Year 2013-14 • Training, Professional Development, Technical Support – 2013-14 and ongoing

SLICE is Data • SLICE consolidates DATA from multiple sources: • Student information system - PowerSchool • State assessments (PASS, HSAP, End-of-Course) • National assessments (ACT, SAT, IB, AP) • Local assessments (formative assessments, e.g.,MAP) • Educator data systems (credentials, certification, years of experience, etc.) • Course management system (courses and programs)

SLICE is Information • SLICE delivers information to: • Educators (Teachers, Education Specialists, Guidance Counselors, etc.) • School and District Administrators • Education Professionals -- Curriculum, Assessment, Support Specialists • Students - as active learners • Parents – involved in student learning

SLICE is Indicators • SLICE provides current data on performance indicators through a series of custom applications • Student Potential Performance Snapshots (SPPS) • At-Risk Indicators • Individual Graduation Plan (eIGP) • ESEA Federal Accountability System and SC District and School Report Cards • Program Evaluation, Required Reports, Audits

SLICE is Dynamic • SLICE is designed to: • SOLVE pervasive problem of “too much data, not enough information” • AUGMENT NOT REPLACE what we have that works • STANDARDIZE data around the Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) • REPORT data for (EdFacts, SFSF, Accountability, Program Evaluation, Audits, etc.) • SUPPORT use of data to inform decisions & improve teaching and learning

SLICE – PowerSchool Deadlines Friday, Jan 11 – Precode Deadline for spring testing • All Data Corrections Must Be in PowerSchool for QDC2 Extraction –– NO EXTENSION Thursday, Jan 31 – Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) • IGP PS module must be installed and operational • installation or functionality issues, contact: CustomerApplicationsSolutions@pearson.com • NO FREE TECH SUPPORT AFTER JANUARY
