Special Use Air Space MISSION • Mutual information sharing on issues effecting Special Use Air Space in Eastern NC and working together to mitigate and or resolve aviation issues to mutual satisfaction. • Intended to foster cooperation between DoD and State agencies and maintain open environmental dialogue.

  5. Special Use Air Space Notes Successful International Exercise CJTFEX June 04 - State Environmental and Aviation offices informed planning through execution - Demonstrated NEPA compliance - Demonstrated Inter-Service cooperation

  6. Special Use Air Space Notes • Outlying Field (OLF) • Remains in litigation • Court enjoins OLF construction activity • Core & Mattamuskeet, now “Gunny” MOA • Under FAA Southern Region Review • State posts harsh opposition on the record

  7. Special Use Air Space Notes • SUA Access Agreements at a Crossroad • Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point agreements in place • Navy may be interested, USAF is not • Marine Corps’ airspace collaboration efforts • State mission enhanced, Military mission opposed • Results not encouraging
