  2. 80% emissions reduction in the UK by 2050 • 34% per cent emissions reduction by 2020 • All new buildings to be zero carbon by 2020 The scale of the climate change challenge… Average UK emissions per person per year currently 10tonnes CO2 equivalent needs to be reduced to 2tonnes CO2 equivalent

Housing accounted for around 30% of all the UK's carbon dioxide emissions in 2004 (40 million tonnes of carbon) 13% of all rubbish produced 45% of all public water Space heating - 60.51% Water heating - 25.23% Appliances and lighting - 13.15% Cooking - 2.74% Zero carbon new homes by 2016 Tackling the issue at home

  4. 25% improvement in the energy/ carbon performance in 2010 (vs. 2006) 44% improvement in 2013 Zero carbon requirement in 2016 = Code Levels 3, 4 and 6 Tackling the issue at home – new build

Up to 7 million British households to benefit from eco upgrades by 2020 Up to 65,000 jobs in the green home industry To insulate 6 million homes by the end of 2011 To have insulated all practical lofts and cavity walls by 2015 PAYS scheme New set of standards for workmanship and products to protect consumers More information to homeowners and housing associations Tackling the issue at home – retrofitting existing stock
