  8. Recommendations Utilize civil society organizations with GBV expertise to mitigate the risks and respond to survivors.

  9. Recommendations Ensure information is provided throughout the route in languages understood by refugees to reduce dependence on opportunists. Deploy female interpreters.

  10. Recommendations Strengthen access to asylum and family reunification.

  11. Final Thoughts As borders close across Europe, women and girls are left stranded in unsafe conditions and face an increasingly dangerous route that is ill-equipped to protect them.
