  2. Natural born citizen • Jus soli – citizen by soil • Born on US soil, property, locations • In Indiana • Ramstein Air Base in Germany • US Embassy Gaborone, Botswana • Jus sanguinas – citizen by birth • Born to two American parents

  3. Naturalized citizen • Come to the US with a green card, VISA, etc. • Go through a 5 year process of becoming a citizen • Have to pass a test; written and verbal.

  4. Immigrants • Resident immigrants – purpose is to live here and become a citizen • Non-resident – staying temporarily • Jobs • School • Refugee – wanting asylum from their country • Political, physical, religious, etc. • Illegal – here without going through legal process
