  3. Punctual habitually acting at an appointed time or at a regularly scheduled time

  4. How can you be punctual? • plan in advance what you will need to bring to class • do not get “side-tracked” or dawdle

  5. Why should you be punctual? • out of respect • to show that you care • it makes a good impression • it is a good habit to get into • in order to get the maximum accomplished

  6. Prepared make ready, fit, or suitable beforehand

  7. How can you be prepared? • complete all your assigned homework before coming to class • bring any materials relating to this class, even if you think you will not need them (including your textbook)

  8. Why should you be prepared? • out of respect for those who are counting on you • to be ready to meet all challenges and obligations that you may encounter in life

  9. Attentive to pay attention

  10. How do you show that you are attentive? • sitting upright and focus on the speaker • taking notes • asking questions • contributing to discussions • ignoring distractions

  11. Why should you be attentive? • out of respect to the speaker • perchance to learn

  12. Courteous respect for and consideration of others

  13. How do you demonstrate courtesy? • not interrupting others when they are talking • listening quietly • waiting to be called upon before speaking • allowing others to go first

  14. Why should you be courteous? • out of respect for another’s age, position, and/or education • to earn the privilege to be treated with courtesy in return

  15. Responsible able to answer for one’s own conduct and obligations

  16. How can you demonstrate that you are responsible? • following directions • completing assignments on time • being thorough and accurate in your work • not cheating, lying, or stealing • doing what is right and honest

  17. Why should you be responsible? • to earn the trust and respect of other people • to have a good and honorable name • to enhance your prestige and authority
