  2. Voir Dire • When a judge or attorney question potential jurors for a specific case in order to determine if they are biased or not.

  3. Slander • Spoken lies about a person with intent to harm their reputation He punches orphans!

  5. Third parties • In a two party system, any party besides the two dominant ones.

  6. Patronage • A way of winning support by doing favors and helping out a certain group. • Friends?

  7. Canvassing • A political tool used to convince a person that they’re candidate is worth voting for. Vote for Me!

  9. One Party System • A type of government where one party reigns supreme Ex.: communist china

  10. Media Bias • When the media displays partiality to one political side “liberal liberal liberal”

  11. Republicans • One of the two major parties, tends to be conservative • Their symbol is the elephant

  12. Moderate • Someone who is between a liberal and a conservative on the political spectrum Liberal Conservative Moderate

  13. Plurality vote • A vote that has the highest percentage but not a majority

  14. Caucus • A political meeting of people with similar political views

  15. Arbitration • When a third party is chosen to decide upon a solution for an argument. He’s Right

  35. Probation • Issued in place of jail time • A set of conditions that a person must follow Ex. Going to AA

  36. Boot Camps Military esque alternatives to juvenile detention centers

  37. National Aeronautics And Space Administration • NASA is the US Space Program

  38. Compensation • When a defendant is court-ordered to compensate for the prosecutors loses • Usually monetarily

  40. Natural resources • Resources that can be found in nature.

  41. The four basic factors of production • The four driving factors of production are land labor entrepreneurship and capital

  42. Land • Either the area where a firm is located or natural resources found on it.

  43. Capital • All structures and equipment involved in the production process

  44. Entrepreneurship • The thinking that guides the production process

  45. Labor • The physical and mental work that goes into the production process

  46. Opportunity cost • When you choose one option over another

  47. Variable costs • Costs that go up and down based on the number produced

  48. Agribusiness • Big, industrialized farms
