  1. Warm-Up: Why does sequence or sequential order matter? *Type your answer in the chat. EQ: What qualities of character matter most?

  2. Look for these clue words.

  3. 1. Four main ideas. 2. Chronological order. 3. No opinions. I can provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.

  4. How does one answer this question? Which four sentences belong in a summary? Put the events in sequential order to create an effective summary.

  5. Model Question: What four statements belong in a summary of “Bus Boycott”? 1. Blacks had been arrested before for talking back to white citizens. 2. Claudette Colvin, who new the segregation laws, was charged with violating the laws as well as assault and battery. 3. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks boarded the city bus and found a seat just behind the white section. 4. Edwina and Marshall, two youngsters from New Jersey, were arrested for not giving up their seats on the bus. 5. The white boy told Marshall to get up from the seat behind him. 6. E.D.
