This ongoing research project investigates pedestrian safety enhancements through HAWK and RRFB installations in Oakland County, Michigan. The study consists of three phases: pre-installation assessments, immediate post-installation evaluations, and follow-ups 3-6 months after installation. The project focuses on improving accessibility and safety measures through design approaches that reduce conflict points, simplify geometry, and enhance pedestrian networks, particularly around roundabouts. It aims to improve pedestrian safety for all users, including those with visual impairments, through various innovative solutions.
