  1. The Old Times Ponce De Leon Ponce de Leon was on his voyage to new land (Florida) he then saw a Moors ship in the distance! He knew he had to act fast! He yelled “Get the harpoons, canons and all the weapons we have and set our course full speed away in the opposite direction of that other ship of terror” The ship had a big change from quiet and peaceful to loud and terrible. The other ship fired with all its might and it just missed Ponce’s ship! Ponce ordered to shoot back at the other ship and it hit the other ship. “Hooray!” The crew cheered and they continued their voyage towards Florida once again from Puerto Rico.

  7. Early Human Inhabitants Ponce first reached Florida at least 12,000 years ago. The rich variety of environments in prehistoric Florida supported a large number of plants and animals. The animal population included most mammals that we know today. In addition, many other large mammals that are now extinct (such as the saber-tooth tiger, mastodon, giant armadillo, and camel) roamed the land.
