Join us on a fascinating journey through the most important facts and accomplishments of the Space Shuttle project. Space Shuttles allowed astronauts to conduct experiments, complete repairs, and live in space for up to two weeks. The shuttles, including Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavor, land like airplanes and are reusable. Unfortunately, Challenger and Columbia are no longer part of the fleet due to accidents. The shuttle's boosters fall back to the ocean for reuse. The external fuel tank burns up in the atmosphere. The payload bay delivers satellites for various purposes, from sending signals to capturing images of space and Earth. Discover how the shuttle's black tiles protect it during re-entry and learn about the unique features that make this project an extraordinary feat of human innovation and exploration.

Use the information in the slides to create a TEAM poster…just like your homework! (80 pts) listing the eight most important facts and accomplishments of this project. (5 pts) Include a hand drawing of the insignia. (5 pts) Include a hand drawing of the rocket (10 pts) Give it a title…the project’s name Be sure to make the writing easy to read…and colorful!
Space Shuttles • Space Shuttles allowed astronauts to live in space for up to two weeks to complete experiments or repairs on space equipment. • It lands like an airplane • Space Shuttles were reusable. The names of the existing shuttles are: • Discovery • Atlantis • Endeavor Unfortunately, Challenger and Columbia are no longer part of the fleet because they were both in accidents.
The Shuttle’s Boosters • The pair of solid rocket boosters are the first to die out and two minutes after launch they fall back to the ocean where they are collected and reused.
External Fuel Tank • The orange external fuel tank burns up in the atmosphere when it is finished.
Payload Bay • Sometimes the Payload Bay holds objects to be delivered into space, such as satellites. Some satellites take pictures of Earth and space, others receive and send signals like television or telephone signals.

The black tiles protect the shuttle From the friction heat of re-entry to Earth
The shuttle is smaller than a large Air plane and would piggy-back to Florida If it had to land in California.
