  4. What does an overprotective parent usually do? • Coddles their child from inevitable problems and disappointments. • The child will learn to depend on others • His needs are always satisfied

  5. What does an overprotective parent usually do? • Negotiate for their child. • Provide instant gratification

  6. Why Do Parents Coddle Their Children? • Less time to spend with them • Guilt • Try to make up for lost time

  7. Negative Long-Term Effects • Translate their fears on children • Separation is harder • Learn to depend on others

  11. What shall we as a parents do? • Educate them to become independent human beings • Educate, without continuous interference • Our fears, needn't be translated into fear for them.

  12. Encourage our children! • Let´s allow our children to fall, make mistakes, feel jealousy and suffer defeat.

  13. Encourage our children: • Watch them grow in confidence, skill, responsibility and emotional intelligence
