Leader’s Challenge • Model the way • Focus on potential. • Consider needs and desires. • Look for the leader within the person. • Attitude, commitment, growth potential, loyalty, resiliency, integrity, mind-set, discipline, • Emphasize results, NOT position and title. • Provide growth opportunities. • Mentor and monitor.

You need to know what to look for A frog’s capable of perceiving only 4 types of phenomena. • Clear lines of contour. • Sudden changes in illumination. • Outlines in motion. • Curves of outlines of small dark objects Can’t see faces, sunsets, or color—it sees what nature has divined it needs to see to survive.

  10. Obstacles for Potential Leaders Five common obstacles for potential leaders: • Lack of clear direction • Bureaucracy • Isolation • Busywork • Poor or dishonest communication

  11. Mentoring • All good mentoring begins with a personal relationship. • Requires commitment and TIME. • Demands and atmosphere of trust. Believe in them. Encourage them. Share with them. Trust them.

A shoe factory send a team of 2 scouts to a remote but heavily populated region in Africa to explore the prospects for expanding business believing two minds are better than one. After only a day on the ground, each scout sends a telegram. One says: “Situation hopeless STOP No one wears shoes”

  14. And the Other says! “Glorious business opportunity, STOP, they have no shoes.” “All life come in this narrative form. “ It’s the story we tell with our choices, language, expressions and actions.

Share the Art of Possibility • Expand the vision of those around you. • Go beyond conventional measurements. • What do we measure? • Help people do well. • Think of your role as being a contributor. • Lead from any chair. • Lighten up. • Give way to passion. • Light a spark. • Tell the WE story.
