  1. A pewter (metal) bowl was fitted inside the box. The seat was covered with plush velvet. It was nice and comfortable for the royal bottom. King Charles’ Other Throne Would you have liked the job of emptying and cleaning out the pot? …his toilet! Or better still… The seat could be taken out to clean! Do you think the seat could get stained and smelly?! The box was made high enough for the king to sit comfortably. The close stool was closed when not in use. His Majesty’s Close Stool!
