Business Experience • First job – salesperson for Xerox Company • General Manager for Hammarplast – Swedish drip coffee maker manufacturer • Joined Starbuck as director of marketing • Visited Milan, Italy and got some ideas • Owner of Starbucks turned them down • Started coffee business – II Giornale

  9. Timeline • 1981 – Visited Starbucks in Seattle after noticing that they were buying a lot of Hammarplast coffee makers • 1982 – Joined Starbucks as director of Marketing • 1984 – Went to Milan, Italy • 1985 – Started II Giornale • 1987 – Bought Starbucks for $3.8 million
