Ireland England, Scotland Newfoundland Canada Slovenia USA Pakistan India DomenicaAntigua Thailand Mexico Guatemala Philippines Nicaragua PNG Equador Australia Peru Bolivia Chile Zambia Nigeria Zimbabwe New Zealand …thousands of others have taken it around the world…

  3. 145 years ago, at the invitation of Bishop Murphy, nine women carried the lantern to Tasmania and in Schools, the Catholic Education Office, the University in Parish work, the Prayer House in Nursing home pastoral care and in Mission support the 140 women who followed them took it to 22 places in Tasmania and to PNG

  4. We ask each of you: How will you hold this legacy? Where will you take the lantern? What will you do to take one step beyond?

  5. Today the Presentation Sisters pass on the lantern – the tradition of faith and service as lived at St Mary’s College – to our Archbishop with the request to take on responsibility for its governance and to take it into the future as an Archdiocesan College, still animated by the charism of Nano Nagle and supported by the Presentation Sisters

  6. I formally accept your request to transfer the governance of St Mary’s College to the Archdiocese of Hobart. I accept this lantern as a symbol of that transfer and assure you that the Governing Council will be mindful of the charism and tradition that it represents.
