  23. Digital New Media You’ve told us that administration and communication for the growing CU needs to harness on line processes and new media to become sustainable….

  24. Children's University mini sites

  25. National e-Communication

  26. Where we want to go….Why Social media ? We’re experiencing a ripple effect as conversations progress to many niche communities. There has been a growing emphasis on the role of social signals within search engine marketing. We need to ensure there is Children's University authorship and Google+ and twitter strategy in place to drive increased visibility and awareness.

  27. Where we want to go….Twitter The Bradford Home Educated Network found us through Twitter – now keen to look at establishing a virtual school

  28. Where we want to go….Twitter Ask questions. Twitter is GREAT for getting opinions Follow interesting people. If you find someone who tweets interesting things, see who follows them build your community Commenting on others’ tweets, and retweeting what others have posted is a great way to build community. Share the human side of things. If you’re bothering to tweet, it means you believe social media has value for human connections New twitter landing page design available to all CU Managers

  29. where they can use the passport….. • Families are increasingly contacting us to see where they can use the passport….. Where are we now? The website search pulls the latest information from the E-passport – but as we hinted earlier, it’s only as good as the data we put into it…

  30. Where we want to go….An Mobile Application Audio tour Request information via email Validated learning destinations Local CU attractions Photos for this location Video for this location

  31. Learning Providers Learning Providers are beginning to see how being part of the CU improves their reach and visibility Where are we now? Potential exists within the E-passport for public learning destinations to receive data on numbers of participants, approval ratings, hours spent etc. Large providers could also take “Learning Destination Administrator” access rights to send updates to their local CU manager

  32. Learning Providers Where do we want to go ? Encourage all providers to have a CU page on their site with links back to us?Demo example Encourage providers to partner/sponsor on-line follow up/challenges based on mutual areas of interest? http://www.rspb.org.uk/youth/join_in/childrensuniversity.aspx

  33. Learning Providers Where do we want to go ? Liven up the “Trails/quizzes” approach of destinations to include interactive/discovery journeys – harness GPS/QR code ideas Using 2D Barcodes – which are readable by a Smartphone device we are looking to develop an interactive medium for learning destinations. Placing these codes on a plaque, post or wall visitors could access information in relation to the building through their phones. The information could be as simple as a dedicated web page providing essential information such as opening times through to advanced interactive portals which could include video, audio tours and even timelines of the history of a building

  34. Tell us what you think Tell us what you think What is working well for you with our website? What is working well with your website? How is social media helping you? What plans do you have to introduce the E-passport? What would be even better if… Prize draw this evening so please complete your forms Thank You
