  2. Understanding Your Person • 1. How old was your person at the beginning of the war? (1939) • 2. How old was your person at the end of the war? (1945) • 3. How old would your person be today? • 4. Make a prediction about whether you think your person lived or died during the war and why. Example: I believe my person, Max Herschal, lived because he was brave enough to fight in the resistance movement within the ghettos.

  3. What is your opinion? • 1. I want my memory to live on after my death. • 2. Until mankind undergoes a great change, wars are inevitable, or unavoidable. • 3. What is done cannot be undone, but one can prevent it from happening again. • 4. The final forming of one’s character lies within one’s hands. • 5. It is good to always follow one’s conscience. • 6. In spite of everything, people are really good at heart. • 7. Responding to life’s ups and downs with humor makes life easier. • 8. Conflict is inevitable when people live closely together.

Did the children of the Kindertransport qualify for asylum? Why? What do you feel should happen to those South American children who seek asylum in the United States? Give solid reasoning.
