  2. OUTLINE • INTRODUCTION • JOB PLAN • Information Phase • Creative Phase • Judicial Phase • Development Phase • Presentation &Implementation Phase • Summary

  3. INTRODUCTION • In gas compression plant, the compressors are driven by a combustion gas turbine. • For best turbine performance, the fuel gas temperature should be at certain temperature (120 – 140 deg F). • Electric Coil heater that provide sufficient heat to fuel gas. • The objective is to find better heating medium using Value Engineering Technique.

  4. INFORMATION PHASE • The information sources: • Equipment Manual • Plant Operating Manual • Material Control Group • Planners • Colleagues

  5. Performance Criteria • Objectives & Desired Criteria: • To give sufficient heat to fuel gas to be in the acceptable range. • To control and maintain that desired condition. • Desired Features & Criteria: • Minimum construction cost. • Easy Control and Operation. • Safe Operation. • Easy Maintenance.

  6. Cost Information

  7. Function Identification • WHAT DOES IT NOW DO? • WHAT MUST IT DO?

  8. Function Identification FUNCTION WHY? HOW? To Increase Temperature To Meet The Required Condition Have Heating Medium

  9. CREATIVE PHASE Beside the Electric Heater: • Steam Jacket. • Exchange Heat Between Hot Lube Oil and FG. • Exchange Heat Between Process Gas and FG. • Eliminate the Heater.

  10. JUDICIAL PHASE HOW IMPORTANT 3. Major Preference 2. Medium Preference 1. Minor Preference

  11. JUDICIAL PHASE

  12. JUDICIAL PHASE

  13. DEVELOPMENT PHASE

  14. Presentation & Implementation • Will be presented to the operation Manager. • Decision will be taken by the Manager. • Implementation will be done by Maintenance Division.
