DSLR • Digital • Single • Lens • Reflex
PMSA • Program • Manual • Aperture Priority • Shutter Priority
DSLR Dial • P-program • Push button • M-manual • Aperture & Shutter Speed • A- Aperture Priority • aperture camera automatically selects S.S. • S- Shutter Priority Shutter Speed camera automatically selects aperture.
Light Meter • Plus to much light • Small opening • Higher number • Faster shutter speed • Higher number • Minus not enough • Larger opening • Smaller number • slower shutter speed • lower number
Aperture • The amount of light entering the camera by the size of the lens opening. • F22 F2
Small Number • Lets in a lot of light f2 • High Number • Small amount of light f16
Aperture • F-stop • Is the size of the actual opening in a numerical value. • 1 full f-stop up doubles the light • (smaller number) • F8 to F5.6 doubles the light • 1 full F-stop Down cuts the light in half • (Higher number) • F11 to F16 cuts the light in half
Depth of Field • the distance between the nearest and farthest object in a scene that appears in acceptable sharp focus.
Controlled by 3 things • Focus • Aperture • Focal Length of Lens
Depth of Field Focal Length • The length of the lens • base of camera to end • shorter the distance from the lens to the film • The greater the depth of field • Short lens=More in focus (Full DOF) • Longer the lens=shallow DOF
Wide Opening Shallow DOF • F2 • Small Opening Full DOF • F22
Camera closer to subject • Shallow DOF
Farther the camera is to subject • Full DOF is achieved • More in focus
Shutter Speeds • The amount of light let into the camera regulated by time. • Fast Shutter Speed=Freeze motion • Slow Shutter Speeds=Blur motion
Shutter Speeds • Moving 1 speed slower will double the light • Moving 1 speed faster will • Cut the light in 1/2 • Exactly like F-stops • Different combinations can give you the same exposure • Planning your picture can maximize your composition
ISO • International Standard Organization ISO • ASA American Standards Association • Film Speed • 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 • Sensitivity to Light • Amount of light to expose picture • Lower number less noise • Higher number more noise
