A few things about Cougars. • They are closely related to the common house cat. • Cougars cant roar but they do purr. • They can run 43 mph and can jump 20 ft from a stand still. • Out of twenty sub-species only three of them are endangered. {Florida panther, Costa Rican puma, and the Eastern puma

  3. Where Cougars live. • The cougars range from North, Central, and South America • They like rough land like the mountains swamps and places like that.

  4. Cougars size and body weight. • Size= Cougars size and weight varies from sub species to sub species. • The American cougar can get up to eight feet long and weigh 150 pounds.

  5. How to recognize a Cougar. • Cougars have black tipped ears • Their fur is a tan color which helps camouflage them when they are hunting.

  6. Diet. • Cougars can kill prey up to seven times their own body weight • Their diet consist of large animals like deer, elk they sometimes go for smaller game like squirrels, rabbits, mice

  7. Reproduction • Females only have one litter of kittens a year. • A litter consists of three to four kittens. • Their gestation period is 82 to 96 days. • Males might mate with several different females.

  8. Cougars and Humans. • Cougars are generally shy and like to stay away from people. • Though sometimes we come in contact and it dosnt work out • There were 3 attacks on humans in the US between 2001 and 2008.

  9. Social Structure. • Cougars very are solitary. • Only mothers and their kittens live in groups. • Cougars only come out around dawn and dusk.
