  1. The D Squared Program 2 2 Partnership Between Patrick County High School and Patrick Henry Community College

  2. 2 Purpose • Provide enrichment opportunities to academically talented students who are ready for the challenge of college coursework • Associate Degree in General Studies by the end of students’ senior year in high school • Pioneer model--only a few other similar models in the United States

  3. When and Who? 2 • This program will begin with the fall semester of your junior year. • All classes will be taken at either the high school or at the DeHart Park Campus during regular school hours. • This program involves college level course work.

  4. 2 Activities/Benefits • Student advising for transferring to four year schools and career training • Tutoring • Patrick Henry Community College Library access—main campus • Patrick Henry Community College gym and weight room access—both sites • Early college experience

  5. 2 Application • Minimum of 3.0 GPA. • Completion of PHCC application. • Completion of necessary prerequisites to enter program (Adv. Alg/Trig, Span III). • Pass all sections of Placement testing. • Approval by designated selection committee. • See Student Services for enrollment information.

  6. 2 Costs • Each college credit will cost $44 • PHCC tuition $120.83 PCSB picks up the difference • Example: 15 hours tuition per semester • PCHS student pays = $660 • PHCC student on campus pay = $1,812.45 ($120.83 per college credit) • PCSB pays = $1,152.45 • 2 years tuition (63 credit hours) • PCHS student pays = $2,772 • PHCC student pays = $7,612.29 • VT = $15,749 per year ($31,498)

  7. Tuition Assistance 2 • Students that qualify for economically disadvantaged assistance (free/reduced lunch program) may be eligible for a reduced tuition fee ranging from $0-$22 per credit • See a school counselor for an application • Eligibility Letter must be sent to PHCC
