  2. THE PRODUCT English for IT (EIT) is an interactive and user-friendly tool with a strong emphasis on learner training and autonomy which: • provides IT students and professionals who have reached the elementary/post-elementary level of English (CEFR level A2) with innovative and relevant materials; • encourages IT professionals with a passive knowledge of English to activate their language; • creates opportunities for learners and tutors in the field of English for IT to share their experience, skills, problems and concerns interactively online.

  3. THE PRODUCT The one-year programme is designed in the form of a calendar. • There are 12 topic-based modules (months). • Each module (month) is divided into 4 larger sections (weeks). • Each section (week) is further subdivided into 7 short sessions (days). The module also has: • an entry test, end-of-the-week and end-of-the-month tests and a final test, providing continuous feedback on the learner’s performance; • online glossaries of IT terminology and most common words used in the materials translated into all the partners’ languages; • a language reference section, a user guide, a message board (online forum) for exchange of ideas and printable photocopiable materials for teachers.

  4. USPs • It exposes the learner to a variety of methods of effective self-study and promotes the idea of lifelong learning. • It can be applied in both formal and informal learning settings. • After the completion of the course, EIT website users with have a possibility to sit an optional formal examination at one of the testing centres established by the project partners. Learners who have passed this exam successfully will be awarded a certificate of achievement. • The certificate will show the results of the final exam in five language skills and will be available in all partners’ languages. This will encourage adults in all partners’ countries – Lithuania, Spain, Poland, Cyprus and Austria - to pursue informal training as part of their plan for lifelong learning.

  5. OBJECTIVES Our plan is to: • update the learning materials in the EIT e-learning module further; • administer and renew the EIT portal continuously; • establish EIT information and testing centres at the partners’ institutions; • award certificates of achievement to candidates who pass the final test successfully; • sell subscriptions through the project partners and local agents and distributors; • develop a similar module for EIT users at a higher level (B1).
