  37. Target 4 • Contribution form Iberdrola • Technical Requirements • PROTECTION requirements (critical) • MANAGEMENT requirements (non-critical) • The main technical requirements to be fulfilled are the following: • Generators send data to its CCG each 4 seconds • Additionally, there is a constant bidirectional communication each 30 seconds • CCG must be connected with CECRE through dedicated lines, redundant, and with a bandwidth that guarantees the correct interchange of information (typical minimum value 256 kbps). • It will have a SCADA system in case of failure. • The communication protocol for information interchange in real time between both systems will be ICCP (Inter-Control Centre Communications Protocol), and more specifically IEC-60870-6-503. TASE 2. • Needed Requirements from DISENCO and Others standard requirements Group A, and Buildings

  38. Target 5 • On work • Who is the leader ?

  39. Target 6 • First draft • Need more finance data from Europe • A lot of information about benefits of using Smartgrid but not on ICT for Smartgrid on DG at Domestic level • In general much more contributions needed

  40. Target6 • Universal connectivity • First, ICT creates universal connectivity between a large variety of grid devices, specially those connected at Domestic área • Second, ICT provides new ways for real-time interaction between suppliers, distributors, and customers in the grid • Increasing the intelligence of the grid • The third trend in ICT for power is that new techniques in hardware and – even more so – in software, effectively inject intelligence into the grid. • Research in Europe: making the critical infrastructures of power and ICT work together • The networks for both power and ICT are infrastructures that are highly critical to the functioning of society today.

  41. Target 6 • Distributed intelligence: agents and electronic markets • Intelligence in the grid involves designing innovative hardware and software components for the electricity grid, in ways that cross-cut power and ICT systems engineering. • Two such successful advanced ICT technologies are software agents and electronic markets. • Supply-demand matching reduces regulating power needs • Advanced fault detection and handling • Intelligent load shedding

  42. Target 6 • •Power reliability and power quality . • Clearly the ICT technologies can offer the necessary intelligence over the SmartGrid , specifically DG at Domestic level environment • •Safety and cyber security benefits. • The protection against Cyber attacks is a due if IP is used as general protocol for communication between elements in The smart Grid for DG at Domestic level. Since beginning of Internet different solution has been adopted to warranty the security of the networks. So different mature solutions are available to cope with the cyber security of SmartGrid for DG at domestic Level

  43. Target 6

  44. Energy efficiency benefits. . • ICT solution can set up monitoring and control solutions to make more feasible the balance between consumption and generation at domestic level •  Environmental and conservation benefits. • ICT can set up some mechanism to make easier the control of emissions and reduce the OPEX in the Electrical Grid as it could reduce the maintenance costs establishing a way for remote control of the Grid. Operators won´t need to move • Direct financial benefits. • ICT can make available the prosumers issues , consumption and generation , visible in a more general environment of e-commerce

  45. General Smartgrid Benefits and contribution from ICT Gridwise • Reduce peak demand by actively managing consumer demand. The ICT could manage getting the necessary data and processing it in data mining and management tools • Balance consumer reliability and power quality needs: . • ICT offer the communication, sensor, and IT sw tools needed to get this balance and reliability , getting the data at remote DER equipment in consumers and prosumers premises , and taking decisions that help to balance • Improve overall operational efficiency • By mean of ICT is possible to do all operation tasks in remote way and using the Telcos structure to collect big amount of data and support of customer ( at this case could be Electrical Companies) applications to do billing, management, provisioning etc of the Grid.

  46. Target6 • Seamlessly integrate all clean energy technologies. • ICT make EASY the integration of New Energy Technologies

  47. Target6 • Stake holders

  48. Target 6 • Consumers • Through ICT have an easy way to play their prosumer role with the capacity to monitoring and control the their energy consumption and the energy generated . Accesing to the virtual Energy Providers Market • A Smart Grid for DG at Domestic Level will enable in a more easy way through ICT , a new level of consumer participation, providing consumers more control over their energy-consumption decisions. • Customers will have a clear, instantaneous picture of their energy usage.

  49. Target6 • The eventual goal of DG, as we see it, is to “reinvent” the grid. Instead of electricity produced in large central plants and transmitted in one direction, DG through ICT gives consumers a number of benefits such as: • • a degree of energy independence • • opportunities for local control to improve security of supply • • financial optimisation • • equal or better power quality, anda cleaner environment • Ict plays an important role in monitor and control DG devices • Electricity consumers—from factory and business managers to homeowners and small business operators—will have the ability to customize their energy supplies to suit their individual needs, this will achieved specially thanks to ICT

  50. •Utilities. • Utilities can provide more reliable energy, particularly during challenging emergency conditions, while managing their costs more effectively through efficiency and information. ICT can offer to the Utilities a way to coordinate the data collected in the electric Grid and to process in a more efficient way
