  1. CSE3: Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) Adventures in Computational Thinking By: Carolyne Chen Overview: Information Technology (IT) is a branch of computer science and engineering that deals with the use of computers and technological communication to store and transmit information. In CSE3, we were able to learn how to be computer literate, which is the defined as the knowledge and ability to use computers and technology efficiently. Computational Thinking Presentation of Information with MS Powerpoint Desktop Publishing with MS Word In this class, I learned the basic skills necessary to be computer literate and to be able to create my own webpages through the use of JavaScript and HTML. I was also able to strengthen my MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint knowledge by practicing advanced functions on those programs. This lab required the students to look into stocks and investments, then for us to use different graphs on MS Powerpoint to represent the data we collected. This pie graph here is a representation of the stock investments with the stocks I chose in healthcare Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages With this lab, we learned how to make our information public and be designing web pages with HTML through programs such as Notepad++ and transferring files to a source that can put it on the internet Basic Microsoft Word skills were demonstrated and practiced with this lab including how to make a table of contents, text boxes, and text wrapping with images. Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript Visual Programming with Alice We learned the basic functions of MS Excel with math functions such as multiplying and adding by creating our own budgets and then graphing them through MS Excel. With the use of Alice, we were able to create animations . We were able to program the objects to move and speak at different times and to create loops with when something should start and end. Labs such as Java Juice taught us how to create commands within the Java Program as well as learning how to calculate and total up values by inputting them as functions in the JavaScript program
