What is the Data, Methods & Synthesis Website? • A tool to inform you about the methods, tools and data being used by your colleagues working on similar problems • A resource providing: • Bibliography of journal articles, working papers, data & information web portals, etc. • A database of relevant data sets • Information on methodologies • Sources and background for tools • A means to synthesize and communicate info to other researchers and stakeholders • An aid in National Communications

  3. Sources of Information • The Project Profile Survey sent out in November 2002 • The Project Synthesis Survey – March 2004 • IPCC, UNDP-APF, UNFCCC, and other resources for impacts, adaptation and vulnerability assessment • CIESIN’s catalogue of data sets

  4. Goals of The Synthesis Survey • Contribute to the Synthesis and Communication of the results of the Projects by: • Characterizing key results • Facilitating analyses within/across regions, sectors, systems, groups • Key issues: • Characterization of vulnerability • Evaluation of the capacity to adapt • Role of decision makers and stakeholders in adaptation • Contribution of the National Communications and to planning adaptation options

  5. Goals During the Meeting • Meet with all Project Teams to ensure that the Survey’s questions are useful to represent correctly the key insights of your Projects • Engage Project teams in the Synthesis process by incorporating your comments for improving the Synthesis activities • Make a first draft of your responses to the Synthesis Survey
