  1. Armenia Animal Relief Project A New Idea For An Animal Shelter, Rescue and Adoption Center in Yerevan, Armenia

  2. Current Facts About Armenia’s Shelters and Strays • Armenia was a country that captured strays and shot them to control the the population. However, in 2006 a Spay/Neuter and release program was put in place for the first time. • The Spay and Neuter program has proved little success as strays are still killed to control the population. • There is no official Animal Shelter in Armenia. They are just starting to be implemented in Yerevan. The ones that do exist are outside of the city and are not very pleasant. • Armenia has no Animal protection laws intact.

  3. Risk of Roaming Strays • Put the public at risk. • Cause property damage. • Spread diseases. • May attack people or pets. • Strays are faced with the threat of hunger, disease, injury, or even getting hit by traffic. • Often Stray animals may become victims of abusive treatment.

  4. Creating Armenia Animal Relief Project • Armenia is in desperate need for a real Animal Shelter, Rescue and Adoption center. • My idea is to create a shelter based in downtown Yerevan with all the basics necessities needed to run a proper shelter. • I have already made progress and have a Veterinarian on staff for when the project gets on feet. • It is important to make sure to spay and neuter each animal before adopting them out. • Proper ways to put down animals when needed must be introduced and used in our shelter. • The AAR shelter would charge a minimal adoption fee and would also act as an emergency low cost veterinary service. • My goal to start the Armenia Animal Relief Project is to collect enough money in donations to start up the shelter and work with the Armenian government and see if there is any possible way to get funding from them. However, the Armenian government is unlikely to fund any Animal related project.

  5. Stray Cat in Yerevan, Armenia

  6. What Will The Shelter Consist Of? • Animals are collected from the streets and given a home in the shelter. • They are fed, comforted and cared for. • Incorporate a no kill policy unless absolutely necessary. • Each animal will be given a complete physical check up and any necessary shots. • Each animal will be spay and neutered before adoption.

  7. What Will The Rescue Center Consist Of? • Rescuing injured animals. Accepting both strays and emergencies. • Will work on behavioral issues in dogs. • Addresses medical concerns in rescued animals. • Enforce the no kill policy unless completely necessary. • Have a Vet on call.

  8. Adoption and Other Public Fee’s Adoptions Other Fees Emergency Vet fees will be kept to a minimum as well relying majorly on donations. Shelter, Rescue, and Adoption center land fees will rely on donations and business earned fees. The operation will rely primarily on donations to get started for the first few years. • I will keep adoption fees to a minimal amount. • With each adoption if the shelter will use both Microchip technology and tags for free. • A free bag of food will be supplied with each adoption.
